About:

Lucas Love Healthcare are working alongside their client to recruit a (Band 2 Domestic Assistant) (Hospital) (Causeway Hospital )

Main Duties:

· Working in accordance with duty rotas and work schedules laid down by the Deputy General Manager for Catering/Domestic Services.

· Practising a good standard of hygiene in all aspects of the job.

· Carry out, sign and date all cleaning duties in accordance with cleaning schedules.

· Daily and weekly use of equipment and materials.

· Ordering, receiving and receipting non-foodstuffs and cleaning materials.

· Following cleaning methods as per instruction and work schedules for all equipment, surfaces and floors.

· Wearing of protective clothing supplied and adherence to C.O.S.H.H., H.A.C.C.P., Food Safety and Health and Safety regulations at all times.

· Reporting the need for repairs to equipment/machinery to Estates Services Department.

· Reporting accidents/incidents immediately they occur.

· Attend all relevant training/refresher training sessions.

· Open and/or secure premises if required.

· Offer suggestions to the Deputy General Manager for Catering/Domestic Services which may improve the service or efficiency of the Catering Department.

· Communicating with patients regarding complaints and during daily tasks.

· Assist the Deputy General Manager for Domestic Services in respect of duty rotas and adjusting the rotas as required to ensure that a quality service is maintained.

· Reporting any pest control problems to Domestic Catering Services Supervisor/Deputy General Manager for Domestic Services.

· Communicating with Nursing staff, Estates Services Dept., Dietetics Dept. and patients’ relatives on issues relating to Domestic Services. Also external bodies, e.g. Environmental Health Officers and RQIA Suppliers.

· Report compliments/complaints in respect of the Domestic Service and taking appropriate action in conjunction with the Domestic Services Supervisor/Deputy General Manager for Domestic Services.

· Undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade as required by the General Manager/Deputy General Manager for Domestic Services.

Essential Criteria:

Aged over 16 Basic numeracy & literacy skills. Ability to work shifts: Mornings, Evenings and (as applicable). All staff will be required to work in various locations and Departments within the Hospital environment. carry out the duties of the post Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and follow written instructions. Basic numeracy & literacy skills. Ability to use own initiative. Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member. Ability to cope with difficult situations in a calm and professional manner as part of a team in a patient/user focused environment. Understanding of the importance of confidentiality in the work place.
