Reena Mathew is our Member of the Month for February.
Reena has been working with Lucas Love Healthcare since 2015 and claims her award after receiving some wonderful praise from her Nursing Home Manager:
Reena is a fantastic Nurse. She works to very high standard and we love having her work for us. She has always been consistent in her work, she is always professional and always happy and glad to work what shifts we need her to.”
For the first 3-4 years of her time with Lucas Love, she was working full-time elsewhere (four 12-hour shifts a week) and then doing some shifts on top of that for Lucas Love. Now, she is only working for Lucas Love – three 12-hour shifts a week.
“I’ve been working for 26 years as a nurse and I love my job. I treat the patients like I’m taking care of my mum and dad. It’s great to talk to them and give them the support that they need each day.”
So, what is it that she likes about working for Lucas Love?
“I take two or three 12-hour shifts a week only now because I want to enjoy myself.
I am a religious person and what I like about working with Lucas Love is that I work when I want to which fits around my personal responsibilities.”
I am enjoying my shifts, I’m enjoying my family life and the cooking. I love my cooking, I even cook for Lucas Love!”
“Really enjoying Belfast”
Reena has lived in Belfast for 14 years now, having migrated from India to Saudi Arabia and then onto Cumbria. It was the one place all of her family could be together.
“My sister was working here in Belfast, so I came to live with her. At one stage, my husband, our daughter and I were all living in different cities around the world.”
“We came here to live together as a family and we’re really enjoying Belfast.”

If you’d like to put someone’s name forward for February, here’s what you can do:
- Gain positive feedback from management or colleagues.
- Nominate a member (or yourself) and include the reason why.
- Nominate someone from within the office (e.g. referring other members to join, little to no hand-backs, picking up a shift at short notice or covering a shift someone had cancelled).
- Send nomination via email to email@example.com by Friday 27th March.
You don’t have to meet all of the above criteria, but these are just some of the things that we consider.
